I am a limited licensed professional mental health counselor in the state of Michigan (LLPC) and a nationally certified counselor (NCC). My degree is a Master's plus Specialist Degree from the University of Florida (Home of the Gator) in Mental Health & School Guidance Counseling. I have 11 years of varied experiences working with children and their families. I have helped children and adolescents individually, in groups, and across diverse issues ranging from grief and loss to anger management, delinquency and truancy. Throughout, I promoted positive life choices and goals. I helped parents in groups based on two modern techniques, Love and Logic, and, Systematic Training for Effective Parenting.

Personal Counseling
I approach counseling in three stages. In the first stage, I give you a chance to get a little off your chest and I learn about you, what you have figured out about what does and does not work for you. Whether you’re a child, an adolescent, or an adult, seeking counseling as an individual, couple or family, you know more about what it is like to be you than anyone. So I am a student. I learn where you are stuck and where you want to be.

In the second stage, I become coach and co-problem solver.
Working as a team, we uncover the offensive strategies that have
been lying dormant within you. I help you identify hidden and
forgotten strengths, overlooked solutions, and solutions at your fingertips. Even when a person does not think they have strengths, it is important to always remember: you have managed to survive despite your current trouble. You have strengths.
In the third stage, you take the ball back and play offense, making the problem play defense for a change. You decide what “plays” work best in your life and run the ball the way YOU see fit. In this stage, you begin to feel greater mastery and back in control of your life.
Once you’re running the ball, and achieving your goals, my job (besides cheering my head off), is to turn you loose on your life. You’ll be more practiced with effective offensive strategies for
staying in charge even when the problem tries to run
interference. You will also have a better understanding
of the strengths you bear to clear future hurdles and
continue on your path to a brighter future.
